Thomas Berger is President of Cross Country Computer Corp./TheDatabaseCenter.com. Tom joined Cross Country in 1991 and went on to acquire the company in 1996.
During his tenure, Tom has overseen the debt-free growth of Cross Country from 20 clients to more than 200, and has been instrumental in strengthening the company’s infrastructure and core Direct Marketing skills, while simultaneously developing new services and diversifying into new business lines. In recent years, this includes a strong push into the financial services and unclaimed property sectors.
Tom has personally developed the vision and design specifications for many of Cross Country’s systems, including TheDatabaseCenter.com, our online data management portal. Tom is also known for complementing the strengths of Cross Country’s management team by assisting with the implementation of special projects including large-scale custom database initiatives.
Tom’s experience with handling complex data files and designing the Abandoned Property Escheat Assignment & Reporting System (APEARS) gives him a unique perspective into the operational side of managing unclaimed property initiatives. Tom has served two terms as Treasurer of the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organization (www.UPPO.org) and served 2003-2005 as Secretary of the Unclaimed Property Committee within the Securities Transfer Association (www.STAI.org) for which he has assisted in the creation of a white paper intended to "Educate the holder community about unclaimed property review and reporting practices, and facilitate the dissemination of information back to the states on solutions that will promote uniformity and lead to more timely and accurate reporting/compliance." Tom is also an active member in numerous direct marketing related organizations including the Direct Marketing Association (www.The-DMA.org) and he is a lifetime member of MENSA (www.Mensa.org), the international High IQ society.
Tom holds a BS degree in Management and Marketing from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and lives in Northport, NY with his family.
